Tariffs: Executive Order of April 2, 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\" data-start=\"98\" data-end=\"324\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><br \/>On April 2, 2025, the United States government declared a \u201cnational emergency\u201d in the field of international trade and introduced a series of extraordinary measures through the implementation of a <strong data-start=\"295\" data-end=\"323\">reciprocal tariff regime<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"326\" data-end=\"666\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">According to the <strong data-start=\"343\" data-end=\"386\">Executive Order issued on April 2, 2025<\/strong>, starting <strong data-start=\"397\" data-end=\"408\">April 5<\/strong>, an <strong data-start=\"413\" data-end=\"452\">additional ad valorem tariff of 10%<\/strong> will apply to all imports from <strong data-start=\"484\" data-end=\"508\">all trading partners<\/strong>.<\/span><br data-start=\"509\" data-end=\"512\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"> Beginning <strong data-start=\"522\" data-end=\"539\">April 9, 2025<\/strong>, tariffs will increase and will be determined based on different rates set by the <strong data-start=\"622\" data-end=\"637\">White House<\/strong>, as outlined in <strong data-start=\"654\" data-end=\"665\">Annex I<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"668\" data-end=\"759\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><br \/>For <strong data-start=\"672\" data-end=\"690\">European Union<\/strong> imports, a <strong data-start=\"702\" data-end=\"716\">20% tariff<\/strong> will apply to all products <strong data-start=\"744\" data-end=\"754\">except<\/strong> for:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"760\" data-end=\"1048\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"760\" data-end=\"853\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"762\" data-end=\"853\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">items listed in <strong data-start=\"778\" data-end=\"790\">Annex II<\/strong> (including pharmaceuticals, copper, and other exempted goods),<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"854\" data-end=\"956\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"856\" data-end=\"956\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong data-start=\"856\" data-end=\"887\">steel and aluminum products<\/strong>, which are already subject to a <strong data-start=\"920\" data-end=\"955\">25% tariff since March 12, 2025<\/strong>,<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"957\" data-end=\"1048\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"959\" data-end=\"1048\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong data-start=\"959\" data-end=\"995\">motor vehicles and related parts<\/strong>, subject to a <strong data-start=\"1010\" data-end=\"1047\">25% tariff starting April 2, 2025<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1050\" data-end=\"1126\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><br \/>As for <strong data-start=\"1057\" data-end=\"1078\">Canada and Mexico<\/strong>, tariffs will apply in a differentiated manner:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1127\" data-end=\"1309\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1127\" data-end=\"1191\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1129\" data-end=\"1191\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">some products will fall under the <strong data-start=\"1163\" data-end=\"1188\">25% additional tariff<\/strong>,<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1192\" data-end=\"1309\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1194\" data-end=\"1309\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">others may benefit from a <strong data-start=\"1220\" data-end=\"1240\">reduced 12% rate<\/strong> if they qualify under origin rules set by existing trade agreements.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1311\" data-end=\"1534\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">These new tariffs <strong data-start=\"1329\" data-end=\"1346\">will be added<\/strong> to any existing duties or taxes.<\/span><br data-start=\"1379\" data-end=\"1382\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"> For example, <strong data-start=\"1395\" data-end=\"1415\">Chinese products<\/strong> will remain subject to the <strong data-start=\"1443\" data-end=\"1483\">20% tariffs introduced on February 4<\/strong>, in addition to the new <strong data-start=\"1508\" data-end=\"1533\">34% ad valorem tariff<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1536\" data-end=\"1786\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The U.S. Administration has stated it is open to <strong data-start=\"1585\" data-end=\"1605\">reducing tariffs<\/strong> if trading partners implement policies that are more favorable to U.S. interests.<\/span><br data-start=\"1687\" data-end=\"1690\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"> Conversely, if the national emergency worsens, <strong data-start=\"1737\" data-end=\"1777\">tariffs may be expanded or increased<\/strong>
